Passion - A reality check
You may have noticed that the tag line for this blog is “Blogging for fun and money.” It has been 2 weeks since I started this blog as a practice blog. Something to get started with until I figure out my niche blogging strategy. I was initially excited by the prospects of starting something new and also with the possibility of earning a living down the line. As you will notice from the first 3-4 posts, I had decided to dabble in blogging about “making money online/how to blog” and tried to put out some posts based on research. But 3 posts later, I am struggling on several fronts - on writing, on researching, on maintaining my interest in this topic. I am a bit disappointed at myself and felt quitters guilt during the last few days.
Part of the reason is likely that I started blogging about a topic that is briefly interesting but not passionate about - making money from blogging. This blog was supposed to help me learn, and capturing the lessons learned, but it became about writing for the sake of posting, about a topic that was getting dry to me. So I am going to steer myself to things that I enjoy and forget the niche strategy with this blog and just write about whatever I want. I know this is veering away from the niche strategy but it seems to be a necessary part of the learning process. Perhaps, if I was a writer, it would be easier to start off with a niche blog. At any rate, writing about everything and nothing will likely help me to figure out the real thing that I want to blog about.
I am feeling it again - this was an enjoyable post to write and it is another posting to my blog. Its good to follow your passion, but not always easy to know what it is.
